Accessibility: It is a 10β15 minutes walk from the accommodation and it's easily accessible. But if you're coming from home, though it is easily accessible, however this is Lagos, you may have to wake up very early in order to beat traffic.

Status: Available, but you may have to wait for the HOs that just completed Housejob to leave. There are two buildings used, and they're not bad.
Quarters capacity: 9 HOs, 9 rooms

Room Features: Size is okay, one person per room, with a fan and cupboard. You could share bathroom or have one to yourself depending on those you share flat with.
Kitchen facilities: Shared by flat mates, there's a washing sink with running tap, a small fridge, and cupboard. You'll need to bring your gas cylinder.
Furnishing: Bed, mattress, pillow β β
Power supply: Stable, unless it rains. There's a Generator that could be put to use sometimes.
Roommate system: Assigned, no roommates though. One person per room.
You'll do an SCQ (single choice questions) CBT/Paper exam (depending on number of applicants), and there's an interview.
They usually pick the first 20 people and then after interview you'll be notified when they're ready to take you (according to the list).
Insider tip: None, everyone I met went through the same process.
Monthly pay: β¦285k
Payment date: 25β27th, no delay. I had even received a salary on a Saturday.

There's "Cola" given mid-month (around 17th), 20k. Cola is different from salary. There's call foodβsome days are better than others but it's not bad compared to most centres.
Centrality: Quite central, with ease of transition from one location to another. You'll always get keke-napep, shuttle buses, etc. to anywhere you're going.

How to secure your housemanship in 2026
Orientation: There's orientation, but it can never be enough. You learn on the go. The senior HOs are always there to guide, just ask when in doubt.
Ward rounds π©ββ: Everyday for all units (HO, MO, and Consultant ward rounds)
Clinic: You'll join clinic for most units
Surgeries: You'll scrub in for most procedures depending on your unit, especially Gen Surg, Urology, and OnG
IV access π: Yes, you secure all IV access for your patients once they're on admission in the ward, and sometimes, you could from ER
Specific drug administration π: Labetalol, Calcium gluconate, Methylprednisolone, Misoprostol for IOL, others by the nurses
Post-round mop-ups with seniors
Staff & Colleagues: All doctors are friendly and supportive including all consultants. Admin staff & nurses β Everyone can't be nice, but most are.
Medicine: You'll learn a lot and you'll be excellent with Nephrology cases, as it's a Nephrology centre.
Surgery: You'll learn a lot. Gen Surg was my best; the Consultant is excellent.
Paediatrics: There's an outside posting at Massey Children Hospital to make up.
Obs and Gynae: You'll also make up with an outside posting at Lagos Island Maternity Hospital.
Key tip: Be responsible, know your work, do your work, and respect others.
Inside hospital: There's a mini-shop where you can get snacks. You can order food from eateries around and they'll deliver.
Outside hospital: There are eateries (Double Deli, Foodie, Take Food, Tasty, etc.) around where you could get fast foods, and you can also order from them.
