Thinking of doing your housejob at OOUTH Sagamu? Here’s everything you need to know—from accommodation and pay to the work culture and lifestyle.

📍 Location

OOUTH is in Sagamu, Ogun State. It’s easily accessible—just go to any major park in Lagos and you’ll find drivers calling for Sagamu passengers.

🏠 Accommodation

  • Status: Available, but houses are basic.

  • Setup: Two house officers per studio apartment. One stays in the room, the other in the sitting area.

  • Facilities: 2 toilets, 1 kitchen (bare—bring your own gear).

  • Rent: ₦2,500/month (no caution fee, but you’ll fix damages when leaving).

  • Power Supply: Fair—about 12 hours daily (6 pm–7 am). Weekends often come with 48 hours straight supply.

  • Room Allocation: Assigned—you don’t choose your roommate.

📝 Selection Process

  • Mode: Interview or MCQ exam (O&G, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Paediatrics).

  • Difficulty: Basic med school knowledge is enough.

  • Note: You don’t need connections—confidence and competence will carry you.

💰 Salary & Allowances

  • Monthly Pay: ₦270,000 – ₦274,000/Month

  • Accoutrement Allowance: ₦25,000 every 3 months

  • Festive Bonus: ₦20,000 (Christmas)

  • Payment Date: Usually the last day of the month (or Friday if it falls on a weekend).

🌆 Lifestyle & Social Life

  • Sagamu is central and easy to move around.

  • Plenty of food vendors within/around the hospital.

  • Chill spots: DoughHouse, Chicken & Co, RikiMart, plus more as you explore.

🏥 Work Environment

  • Orientation: Limited—mostly HO-to-HO guidance. Occasionally ARD-led sessions.

  • Duties:

    • Ward rounds (documentation is crucial).

    • IV access and all IV drug administration (strictly doctors’ duty).

    • Post-round mop-ups (typing/writing under supervision).

  • Culture:

    • Surgery & Paediatrics can feel tough, but SRs and Regs are approachable.

    • Consultants are mostly accommodating (resident shortage helps).

    • Nurses are respectful if you respect boundaries.

  • Key Tip: Work is calm compared to many centres, but precision is non-negotiable.

🍽 Food Options

  • Local food vendors are within the hospital.

  • Several decent restaurants nearby for variety.

⭐ Key Takeaway

OOUTH Sagamu offers a balanced housejob experience:
✅ Steady pay
✅ Basic but available accommodation
✅ Fair workload & calm environment
✅ Supportive culture (though some rotations are tougher)

It’s a great option if you want to learn well, earn decently, and still enjoy your stay in Sagamu.
