The Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) is a tertiary hospital in Nigeria, affiliated with the University of Lagos College of Medicine.
Established in 1961 and opened in 1962, LUTH is located in the Idi-Araba area of Lagos. It serves as a major medical center for the training of healthcare professionals and the provision of specialized patient car
LUTH is a federal hospital and serves as the last referral point for many complex medical cases in Lagos and beyond. This translates to a heavy workload, but also a great learning experience.
🏠 Accommodation
Not the best, but manageable—be grateful for a space within the hospital.
Types of accommodation:
RMO 1, RMO 2, RM0 5→ Allocated via balloting, with payments made to the housing department.
RM0 3 is still under renovation
Downside:
RM0 1, 2 and 3 : Shared toilets. (Every room as its own bathroom)
Generally, accommodation wise, limited spaces compared to the number of House Officers.
Upside:
Steady light & water (most of the time).
Close to the hospital, which is convenient for night calls.
RM 05: A perfect self con with its own toilet
💰 Salary
Same as MDCN (₦267,000/month).

Lagos is a vibrant metropolitan city, but expensive.
Endless fun options depending on your preferences.
⚕️ Orderliness & Work Conditions:
Do your job well, and you won’t have issues.
Some malignant senior colleagues—best to avoid their triggers.
Administration is okay, but assessment signings vary by department.

You may not have time to cook.
