How to secure house job in 2026 is your go to article after induction into MDCN.
Congratulations on your triumphant graduation as a Medical practitioner. You must be exuberant with the realization of this achievement, and your family must be overflowing with pride.
Welcome to the other side of the struggle. Allow me to introduce you to the enigmatic process of How To Secure a House Job In 2025 For MBBS and BDS
1. This delay hugely emanates from the fact that most fresh graduates do not know how to use the portal, as the portal requires you to be fast, and specific, with a strong internet connection and a laptop, probably.
2. Most people get confused about which hospital to choose—a decision that should have been made earlier.
3. Most of the time, the upload does not start on the date announced, but instead a day before the date. The upload does not occur on a specific day of the week; instead, hospitals are sometimes uploaded on a weekend, unannounced.
4. Upload can occur with just a few hospitals, leading to limited choice, and sometimes not being able to select a particular hospital.
5. Many doctors have login issues on the day of the upload, and they lose the chance of getting housemanship.
6. On the day of the upload, some alternative URL starts to fly around, different from the official URL, which leads to an ambush of those stuck with the not-working URL.
7. Some doctors start to make calls about the hospital to choose on the day of upload while browsing through the portal, that’s the wrong time to make those calls.
This is because the upload does not last beyond 30 minutes depending on the number of hospitals uploaded, whether it was uploaded at the odd time the general interest of doctors in the hospitals uploaded and the location.
1. First, you should have done a little research about the hospitals you might wish to work in, so quickly this is the list of hospitals that appear in the portal. It is your duty to Google and check some of these hospitals out.
2. If the news on the site says that the upload would occur today before the close of work, please start checking the site regularly the day before that day.
3. Use both phone and laptop (Chrome, Firefox, Opera and Safari)
4. log in to the housemanship portal, do not log out.
5. When you are logged in, in your browser URL space you will see housemanship.mdcn.gov.ng/main/dashboard copy that and keep it on your phone or laptop.
6. When you are having challenges logging in or the site showing “maintenance”. Go to a new tap in the same browser that you have always used to log in and paste the above (housemanship.mdcn.gov.ng/main/dashboard) that will take you to the dashboard straight, skipping the log-in page.
7. When the hospitals are uploaded, you will see a drop-down in your dashboard with the list of several hospitals depending on how many hospitals were uploaded that day, and also depending on how early you were to the upload.
8. Once you see a hospital click on it ASAP, don’t think “a menu will pop up asking you if you are sure of your choice and that it cannot be changed’ just click yes immediately as every second is very important.
9. When you have successfully selected a hospital, your dashboard will change to show the hospital you were posted to and the month that you were posted. see the image below
Then you can download your posting letter by navigating to >>>>view posting>>>>print posting letter. It is a single-page PDF file.
10. If you are also choosing for a friend, it is advisable to use a different browser entirely, and you must have logged their account in before the day of the upload, else it will be almost impossible due to login issues encountered by many on the day of upload.
Note: You will be given two weeks from the day you were posted to appear in the hospital for documentation and resumption of duty. It is advisable to go as early as you can, to enable you to secure accommodation and settle in before you are posted to a unit.

In my last attempt, I submitted quite early, but my preferred centers weren’t listed (no vacancies). Should one constantly check the portal even after the application window?
Yes , check the portal often
Once posting is done, what’s the timeline for resumption? Also, what happens if you can’t resume on the given date — does your posting get canceled automatically?
You have 2wks to resume, after about 3wks and above, the posting can automatically cancel out
I’m curious: in states with lots of applicants (e.g. Lagos, Rivers), does local origin or quota play a big role in who gets posted to the “better” hospitals?
No it doesn't for portal centers
This is extremely helpful — I didn’t realize updating your biodata early can improve chances of getting a preferred posting. Thanks a lot!
